Cheap Travel to Shanghai Expo 2010 China
Cheap Travel to Shanghai Expo 2010 China
Here’s my travel diary Cheap Travel to Shanghai Expo 2010 China from Surabaya – Singapore – Shanghai – World Expo – Hangzhou – Jogjakarta – Surabaya:
* First Day (October 19, 2010) :
Depart from Surabaya to Singapore about 3 pm, then arrived in Singapore at 6:30 tonight. Coming to Singapore, immediately get something to eat first, have started hunger:)
Since already several times to Singapore, and also had back and forth stranded at Changi airport, we headed straight to the cheap places to eat, like a hawker center, at the employee cafeteria is located at Basement 1 of Terminal 1 Changi. The place is like a food court, clean, with food prices are very affordable, about 3-4 SGD ..
After that we sleep and waiting, until 3 am, to then go to Kunming for transit to Shanghai ..
* Day Two (October 20, 2010) :
Hours 7 am arrived at Kunming, etc. immigration care. Apparently after that luggage is not transferred directly, but must check out the trunk first and then have to check in again for a flight to Shanghai. Our direct care to the process of check-in luggage.
1 pm arrived at Shanghai. Pertama2 still searching too, because of this airport according to the info on the internet there is the Shanghai Metro Subway station that directly to the Metro station where we stay, namely in the area of East Nanjing Road. Finally after about 5-10 minutes trying to find your’s, Metro also met her, in the downstairs area of the airport arrival hall.
Next, after arriving at East Nanjing Road, which seemed most in need of a long time in my travels today, is to look for the hotel’s address! If the info from Agoda, it looks pretty close, about 5 minutes walk. But after trying on foot with the direction that it feels really, really has not been met as well. Once asked by “tarzan language” here and there, the hotel also finally see the Lakeside Holiday Inn Hotel at the end of the road, just across the Huangpu River, in South Suzhou Road. The distance a bit far less than the info from Agoda, about 10-15 minutes walk from the subway Metro East Nanjing Road, but that’s okay, because this hotel was also in accordance with our expectations, that is clean, the rooms are quite large and comfortable, with enough for three beds (2 double beds & 1 single bed).
At night, try to get something to eat while jalan2 to Shanghai Bund and Nanjing East Road, met a pretty cheap place to eat in the Middle Henan Road and finally finished our subscription for dinner, because the price includes reasonably priced with large portions. Incidentally the restaurant managed by “Pak Haji” (or not??), Because no halal label on the nameplate depot, and depot owners always use a small cap typical of the Muslims 🙂
TIPS : To eat in Shanghai, it is not available if we do not ask for drinks. Maybe because every time we eat, always provided such as broth, so the people there to drink directly from the sauce, it does not need to add another drink, hehe .. 🙂
* Third Day (October 21, 2010), Expo Day 1 :
Breakfast at the hotel first. Not bad, breakfast buffet / buffet, but the style Chinese restaurant. So our menu every day the same, namely meat and vegetable dumplings, pumpkin, fried rice, noodles, egg, porridge with cakue, assorted pickles & vegetables, and toast. To drink any water, warm oranges, and warm milk ..
After that at 8 am go to the Metro station. Here we enter from Gate 6 Shanghai Expo, which is connected directly to the Metro station Yaohua Road Station . We arrived at the gate at about 8:30 am Expo.
Wuuiiiihhhh …..!!!
Line at the gate of Shanghai Expo is very looonggg… Not to mention should crush and indigenous people there who play cheating queue times. Try to be queued in an orderly manner, certainly will be faster and regular.
Once entered into the Expo, we are in the area of the Expo Axis. Furthermore, in order to see with a clearer view into all areas of the Expo, we rise to the elevated walkway, which is an area that is located walking on the highway, so we are more free to look around the Expo pavilion. After that we can decide about the Expo Pavilion in which you want to go.
The first day of the Expo is still a little searching first, walking distance from the elevated walkway to the Zone A, Zone B, up to Zone C. Finally, this day could also fall into several Pavilion, namely: Vietnam, Laos, Mini Japan, Morocco, Boznia and Herzegovina, Canada, Brazil, and USA. After that it was quite the night, we finally decided to go home.
TIPS : Life in Shanghai, both of our time queuing at the Expo, as well as in the Metro Subway, people there always seem busy, hotfoot. Chat or telephone, they are mostly also very loud voice, regardless of its surroundings. Another one of the most important of the issue of queuing. Here, in no way an orderly queue, such as in Singapore. So like for example entering the Metro, people immediately jostling to enter by pushing each other, with no culture of an orderly queue. In fact I never met anyone who wanted out of the Metro subway, almost did not get out because it pushed the same people who want to enter. New experiences also, but one unpleasant experience, hehehe .. 🙂
* Day Four (October 22, 2010), Expo Day 2 :
Direct bus to the American zone, continuing our journey the last of the USA Pavilion. From here, we try to go to some pavilion, such as: negara2 in Latin America, Slovenia and Egypt. Continue berfoto2 ria in front of the British pavilion and Germany. Because it was already noon, and it’s all zones A, B, and C in Pudong this Site is terjelajahi, we try to cross by ship to the Puxi Site. Whoa, it must also be queue to board the cruise again. Well, because it already got here, finally we are also queuing up to cross the Huangpu River into Puxi Site.
Up in Puxi Site, here there are also many pavilion from various companies, and also the theme pavilion of China. We try to go to Foot Print Pavilion, here there are historical relics of various countries. Continue take a picture from outside, for Coca-Cola Pavilion, Oil Company, and others. Views especially at night very good, because in some pavilion there is a very good lighting performance.
To return to the Pudong Site, because it was quite the night and the queues are getting longer boat, we finally decided to try the special Metro subway ride to the Shanghai Expo. Turned out there was no queue at all, and we can immediately return to the Pudong site to go to the Metro station at Yaohua Road Station.
TIPS : In the Expo have a lot of free transport can be utilized, such as buses, ships, and the Metro subway. For our route map can be read from the Expo Map provided free of charge or we can ask for in one of the Expo volunteers who dressed in green.
* Day Five (October 23, 2010), Expo Day 3 :
Fortunately, at least the first 2 days of the Expo is absolutely no rain and the weather is quite sunny. The third day it was raining all day until night, with a fairly strong wind. Finally we just take a walk briefly in the European zone, lunch at Hakuna Mattattah in Africa Pavilion, continues to wait for the rain to stop at the Expo Axis. After waiting until the afternoon and not see the rain would stop, we finally decided to return to the hotel.
* Sixth Day (October 24, 2010) :
Today the rain was still falling, so we decided to look at Madame Tussauds and find gifts & souvenirs at People Park and Yuyuan Garden. Madame Tussauds is like that, we can take picture with a wax figure with a variety of well-known figure, the full.
For the People Park, it looks more to sell stuffs and air-brands, with prices already high, so finally we only buy food & gifts there. Continue to the Yuyuan Garden, here sell jewelry and clothing. But unfortunately we get near Yuyuan was late evening, so many shops were closed. Anyway because of that guy come all, so not too smart to choose clothes and bargain prices, hehe .. 🙂
TIPS : all the places I mentioned above, everything can be achieved with Metro subway. So if we go to Shanghai, should take advantage of subway facilities only, because the price is much cheaper than a taxi. For this subway fare, depending on far-close, to cost about 3-5 RMB ( USD. 4000 s / d Rp. 7,000, – )
* Seventh Day (October 25, 2010) :
Preparation wake early in the morning, to search for a train ticket to Hangzhou to see the Xihu lake also known as West Lake, which is one of the famous lake in China. We ride the Metro subway heading to Shanghai South Railway Station. When I got there, there are 3 train to Hangzhou until noon, all for today already sold out …!!
Luckily one of my brothers who join together, suggest taking a bus. And more lucky again, at the train station there was also a bus station for long distance. Direct us about 10-15 minutes walk to the bus station, and also get tickets to Hangzhou. Yeeaahh …!!
At 11 noon, arrived at Hangzhou. Woow, its bus station is very good, may be practically the same as our Juanda airport in Surabaya. If compared with Adisucipto airport in Yogyakarta, even better and bigger bus stations in Hangzhou this. After asking to the station officer, advised on the bus with the code 111 for heading to West Lake (Xihu Lake), very cheap, just pay RMB 2 each way.
Journey to the Xihu Lake / West Lake pretty well, about 40 minutes. Arriving at the bus stop there, we also do not directly get to the West Lake, but must once again on foot, about 15 minutes. But not bad really, Xihu lake with small island in the middle. What to try ride cruise ship to the island in the middle, and there can take a picture with stunning lake and mountain background & shrine / temple which seems to have existed since time immemorial ..
TIPS : to go to other cities of Shanghai, we can try different routes of transportation. Starting from buses, trains, and airplanes. The train also has a few routes that use the fast train, with the code “D-Train “. So consider yourself about what is going to alternative transportation use.
* Eighth Day (October 26, 2010) :
Until well on the last day in Shanghai. After breakfast, depart for the photos for a while in Shanghai the Bund, as previously not had time to Shanghai Bund in the morning / afternoon. Weather fortunately no rain, although a bit cloudy. But still not bad really for photos ria. After that, relax a while at the hotel, before 12 noon check out from the hotel, leading to the Hongqiao International airport, to return to Singapore via Kunming.
* Ninth Day (October 27, 2010) :
Up in Singapore, Air Asia rose further to Jogjakarta at 11 noon. Up in Yogyakarta at 12.30 noon, immediately took a bus to the station Trans Jogja Monument in Malioboro. We directly booking Sancaka afternoon train ticket headed to Surabaya, and luckily there ..! Rock On, relieved, too, finally at 9 pm to also return to our beloved city, Surabaya ..
Thus the story of my trip, hopefully can help my friends who wanted to go Cheap Holidays to Shanghai, Hangzhou or to other cities in China.
Greetings:)
